A powerful figure representing the leftist movement and a writer who completed the age of 91 years, Mr. Punchihewa donated many books he had collected for his library for about 65 years to the National People’s Power today (19) in the afternoon at his residence.
On this occasion, General Secretary of Janatha Vimukti Peramuna Tilvin Silva, P.M. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, K.D. Lalkantha, lawyer Upul Kumarapperuma and others participated.
“There are many books related to various subjects that I have collected for about 65 years. I wondered who would be the best group to use those books in general. I thought that the best group was National People’s Power. The National People’s Power, which the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna thought to create, is a very excellent creation. There is a large number of scholars in the National People’s Power. They are not just scholars. They have a committed attitude towards the public. That’s one of the reasons why I made this sacrifice.” Mr. S.G. Punchihewa expressed his happiness here and commented to the media.
